Our Fields and Our Varieties

Our essence.

At Camp Walden, we currently cultivate a variety of oranges and mandarins. Each year, we may adjust the selection depending on demand or on how well each variety adapts to the soil.

OUR VARIETIES

This season we have the following varieties available:

Orogrós

Orogrós is a new spontaneous mutation of the Oronules clementine. The fruit is larger than other early mutations of the Oronules variety, while remaining very similar in characteristics. It has a rounded, slightly flattened shape, an attractive reddish-orange rind, a soft texture, and is easy to peel.

Its sugar and acid content are well balanced, resulting in a very pleasant flavour.

Mid-September to early October

Oronules

This is a high-quality clementine mutation originating in Nules (Castellón). The fruit is medium- sized, with a thin skin and a slightly flattened shape. It has excellent flesh quality, is seedless, and is a very early variety—harvested approximately fifteen days before Oroval, depending on the area.

Marisol

Marisol is a mutation of the Oroval variety, and its fruits are very similar to those of the original Oroval. This is a very early variety, with harvest beginning approximately fifteen days before Oroval, depending on the area.

Clemenules

Clemenules is a mutation of the fine clementine, originating in Nules (Castellón). The fruits are large, slightly flattened, with an intense orange rind and very juicy, high-quality flesh. They are easy to peel and seedless. This variety is harvested in the first season.

Chislett Summer Navel

This variety was discovered in Australia and is a mutation of the Washington orange. The fruit is excellent in size, with a round or slightly ovoid shape, fine texture, and attractive colouring. Its color is less affected by summer greening than other late Navel varieties.

Chislett Summer Navel is currently considered the best late Navel selection in Australia, both in terms of fruit size and physical characteristics (skin texture and firmness), as well as organoleptic qualities (juice, sugar, and acid content).

This variety has the longest harvesting period, from late winter through the summer months, and is also the most popular choice for fresh consumption worldwide.

Harvesting period

February to May
