ABOUT US

HOW WE WORK

DELICACY FROM BEGINNING TO END

At Camp Walden, we only harvest oranges from our own fields. We are meticulous in understanding every orange that reaches the consumer. Our process begins with a careful study of the fields we acquire. We pay close attention to soil characteristics such as texture, structure, pH level and fertility. We also look for fields close to our home, which allows us to monitor them daily.

Once a field is acquired, we proceed with its transformation and plowing, selecting the best irrigation techniques and infrastructures to carry out agricultural work under the best possible conditions.

Another of our main investments is selecting high-quality seedlings, with the goal of growing orange trees that will live long and productive lives.

Throughout the year, we apply fertilization techniques and increase biological control to combat pests in the most environmentally friendly way, always respecting the orange itself.

We carry out pruning and rigorously select which fruits to keep or discard on each tree, even sacrificing potential kilograms of oranges so that the tree can rest. This ensures that, although the fruits are fewer, their quality is exceptional.

Finally, we carefully harvest the oranges and pack them by hand, putting all the love and attention that a family business entails. The oranges are packed directly in the field where they were picked and transported the same day to the point of sale. This ensures that they reach the consumer in record time, making freshness the most distinctive feature of our oranges.

Now you know more about our oranges and mandarins, available in markets and greengrocers, ready to be enjoyed by you.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

defying the odds

OUR STORY

They say everyone has a story. Camp Walden has its own: it was the dream of a young boy who, despite all obstacles, dared to defy the odds.

For us, the most important thing is to offer you an orange of exceptional quality, but also the story behind it—just in case, one day, besides a simple piece of fruit, you need a little hope.

Have you ever watched Steven Spielberg’s famous movie “Catch Me If You Can”? The story of Camp Walden reminds us of a memorable speech from that film:

“Two little mice fell into a bucket of cream. The first one gave up and drowned.
The second one fought with all its might, churned that cream into butter,

and managed to escape. Gentlemen, from this moment on, I am that second mouse.”

This message is an invitation to work, fight, and take action. It teaches us that hard work brings rewards and that perseverance bears far more fruit than discouragement and complaint.

And so, when you taste our “Waldens”, if—besides enjoying their sweetness—you pause to reflect on all the wonderful things waiting for you if you keep persevering, you’ll discover that no orange has ever been so perfectly accomplished.

Camp Walden PHILOSOPHY

OUR PHILOSOPHY.

After decades dedicated to cultivating oranges, what better way to summarize our story than with a concept like “Camp Walden”.

Camp Walden stands for origin, essence, and nature — values deeply rooted in agriculture. It carries an important lesson: the key to life lies in what you choose to discard.

This idea is at the heart of Thoreau’s masterpiece, “Walden.” This book gives our project its name and delicately speaks about what Thoreau learned while living in the woods: letting go of everything that wasn’t truly life, and embracing the benefits of living from the soul, with intention and awareness. As Thoreau once said:

“There is nothing better than to stand at the meeting point of two eternities — the past and the future — which is precisely the present moment; that is the line you must follow.”

The key to life is simplicity: simplifying, distinguishing the superficial from the essential, the relative from the truly important. This is our philosophy.

Thoreau spoke of living deliberately — acting with passion, remembering that we don’t know everything, staying humble, and maintaining a daily attitude of learning.

Now you know that Camp Walden oranges are filled with values, authenticity, and a passion for growth and learning. And yes, they’re also filled with sweetness, quality, and freshness — something we hope you’ll soon discover. We hope you’ll trust us.
